Typically not a political blogger...

But a Pastor forwarded this to me and I thought it was great. I wanted to share it with you. Of course, inflation would go through the roof, but.....it does make you think!?

Hi to All,

I'm against the $85,000,000,000.00 bailout of AIG. Instead, I'm in favor of giving $85,000,000,000 to America in a "We Deserve It Dividend".

To make the math simple, let's assume there are 200,000,000 bonafide U.S. Citizens 18+. Our population is about 301,000,000 +/- counting every man, woman and child. So 200,000,000might be a fair stab at adults 18 and up..

So divide 200 million adults 18+ into $85 billion that equals $425,000.00. My plan is to give $425,000 to every person 18+ as a "We Deserve It Dividend". Of course, it would NOT be tax free. So let's assume a tax rate of 30%. Every individual 18+ has to pay $127,500.00 in taxes. That sends $25,500,000,000 right back to Uncle Sam.

But it means that every adult 18+ has $297,500.00 in their pocket. A husband and wife has $595,000.00. What would you do with $297,500.00 to $595,000.00 in your family?

  • Pay off your mortgage - housing crisis solved.

  • Repay college loans - what a great boost to new grads.

  • Put away money for college - it'll be there.

  • Save in a bank - create money to loan to entrepreneurs.

  • Buy a new car - create jobsInvest in the market - capital drives growth.

  • Pay for your parent's medical insurance - health care improves.

  • Enable Deadbeat Dads to come clean - or else

Remember this is for every adult US Citizen 18+ including the folks who lost their jobs at Lehman Brothers and every other company that is cutting back. And of course, for those serving in our Armed Forces. If we're going to re-distribute wealth let's really do it...instead of trickling out a puny $1000.00 ( 'vote buy' ) economic incentive that is being proposedby one of our candidates for President. If we're going to do an $85 billion bailout, let's bail out every adult U S Citizen 18+!

As for AIG - liquidate it. Sell off its parts. Let American General go back to being American General. Sell off the real estate. Let the private sector bargain hunters cut it up and clean it up.

Here's my rationale. We deserve it and AIG doesn't. Sure it's a crazy idea that can 'never work.' But can you imagine the Coast-To-Coast Block Party! How do you spell Economic Boom?

I trust my fellow adult Americans to know how to use the $85 BillionWe deserve it more than the geniuses at AIG or in Washington DC do.

And remember, The Birk plan only really costs $59.5 Billion because $25.5 Billion is returned instantly in taxes to Uncle Sam.

Ahhh...I feel so much better getting that off my chest.

Kindest personal regards,

Birk

PS: Feel free to pass this along to your pals as it's either good for a laugh or a tear or a very sobering thought on how to best use $85 Billion!!

What do you think about the Prosperity Gospel?

Ran across this video on our church's network today and thought I would share it.

Jesus should be our everything. Not our kids, not our spouse, not money, cars, boats, a nice house, not a good church, not health - JESUS ONLY! Praise God that we can trust Him no matter what!

Behold the Power!

So, over the last couple of weeks I have been reading in Ephesians to coincide with our Senior Pastor's series "Downpour: Living Life in The Spirit." There is a lot written in Ephesians one could focus on, so let me pick just one...

In the show Heroes, there are average humans living in the world with special powers and abilities. On the outside they look just like regular everyday folks. But each of them, because of a genetic quirk, have some unique ability - one can fly, one can heal herself, one can slow down time and time travel, one can hear the thoughts of those around him, and so on.

The Spirit of the Living God, who raised Jesus from the dead (not to mention Lazaurs, Jarius' daughter and others), is living inside of us. We have access to the power of the living God as the life of Christ, if we have accepted Him into our lives, has been exchanged for our own. While we may never be able to literally fly or hear the secret thoughts of others, I wonder just what could be accomplished if we were to fully abide in Him.

What area of life do you struggle with? Are you happy in your relationship with your spouse and kids? Do you think that Christ has the power to change that within you? The Bible tells us he is ready and willing, we just have to accept it and make the choice.

Heroes is Back...So Am I!

I'm sittitng here watching the Season Premier of Heroes - and loving it - keeping an eye on my loosing fantasy football team - thanks for nothing Carson Palmer - and putting together a blog entry - the first one since the beginning of July. Who ever said men cannot multi-task?

We live in a world of constant connectivity - we are always wired, or wirelessly wired, to someone or something outside of ourselves. The Internet, the fable world of television, cell phone with text messaging, etc. I have often thought if that is how our life in Christ should be like? God wants us to be in constant contact with him (i.e., pray without ceasing) and to always be looking for Him in the world around us.

As a parent of young children, I have begun to see my own children being drawn into the world of technology via computers, the ability to record live television to play back later, cell phones (mine that is)... What I must watch out for is that my kids don't REPLACE the relationship to technology with genuine ones with friends and adults. We are created to be social beings - somethting that must never be replaced with technology.
